BCL Designs

For over 30 years I have been fascinated by neurons and glial cells, in particular astrocytes and microglia, which play an important role not only as structural elements in the nervous system but also regulating neuronal functions.

My jewelry designs are based on the microscopical observation of histological preparations of nervous tissue processed with special stain techniques including histochemistry and immunohistocemistry. My work is largely inspired by the complicated and intricate forms of the different cell types that constitute the brain and other parts of the Nervous System. 

While spending most of my working time in the lab involved in medical research, during my free time I create new designs based on the observations that I did along my scientific carrier  with the light, confocal and electron microscopes.
